These beautiful birds are individually hand-carved from basswood and stand on maple bases of various dyes and colors. Finishes are from shellac and many coats of tinted or straight lacquer. For size reference the tallest bird is 12 1/2 inches in height (Bittern 1 & 2). Most are 5 to 10 inches tall, 3 to 4 inches wide, and under 9 inches long. They are produced in my shop in Natick or Nantucket on a limited basis each year. the birds are exhibited at the Artist Association of Nantucket Gallery, along with being for sale there, The Nantucket Looms, Nantucket House Antiques, and Gerry Brown's Basket Gallery on Nantucket, or by contacting me.
